Oculus tells the story of an imagined queer mythology, one of death, self actualization, and rebirth. Illustrations were created by Nate Love and animated by Nate King. Love and King reference Classical Greek myths, such as Charon, the Ferrier of the Dead, as well as the religious iconography of Saint Sebastian. The eye is penetrated with a rainbow bone and becomes enlightened. We see brothers locked in bondage, an androgynous Medusa, a strongman, radical fairies, tropes and identities within the gay and queer community.
