Mother Sea

2016 | Watercolors, Digital Animation, Digital Compositing | 01:54

Mother Sea is a short animation completed during King’s first year at Pratt Institue. The work shares a story about the generational connection between a Fisherman, A Seamstress, and a Child. King explores ways to integrate video compositing and paper cut outs. This is seen particularly in the hands across the entire short film, which are real hands turned into video mattes. This work was a research precursor for the aesthetic seen in King’s next film, Old Rag Mountain.
