Interface: Cruisin’

2022 | Video, Digital Animation, Digital Compositing | 01:15

Interface: Cruisin’ is mini film parodying the 1996 Nintendo 64 videogame, Cruis’n USA. King replaces the character of the trophy girl from the original game with himself. Inspiration stems from King playing the racing game as an eight-year-old and being told by parents to close his eyes when the woman was on screen. Music in Interface: Cruisin is pulled directly from the original video game soundtrack. The work explores ideas of nostalgia and queering both retro and future aesthetics. King’s previous project, Ukranian Track Suit, influenced aesthetics and processes in the creation of this work.
