Balm in Gilead

collaboration with Al Evangelista and Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts

Performing Arts faculty member Al Evangelista led the 2019 production of Balm in Gilead (1965) written by Lanford Wilson. Evangelista enlisted to design a cityscape that would be projected as the background for the performance. Using Maya and After Effects, King crafted a timelapse where the sky and buildings transitioned from dusk to darkness over the course of an hour and a half, enhancing the atmosphere and visual storytelling. Performances of Balm in Gilead took place November 12-15 at 7:30 p.m., November 17 at 2 p.m., and November 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Studio Theatre, located in the Squires Student Center at 290 College Avenue on the Virginia Tech campus.
